Unlock PSE’s Air-Source Heat Pump Conversion Rebate
Upgrade Your Home Heating and Save Thousands on Energy Costs
Why Switch to an Air-Source Heat Pump?
If you’re still using old electric resistance heating systems like baseboards or forced-air furnaces, it’s time for a change. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has a great rebate program to help you switch to modern air-source heat pumps. These pumps can cut your electricity use by up to 50%, giving you efficient heating and cooling while also improving the air quality in your home all year long. You could even snag rebates of up to $3,900, plus an Efficiency Boost for income-qualified households. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make your home more comfortable and lower your carbon footprint.
Eligibility for PSE Heat Pump Rebate
To qualify for this PSE electric resistance to air-source heat pump conversion rebate, you must be a PSE single-family residential electric customer. Your current primary heating must be electric resistance-based, no existing heat pumps, natural gas systems, or new AC-only installations. For ductless setups, install at least one indoor unit in the main living area. Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) may also qualify if they’re fully independent with kitchen and bath facilities. Ensure your new system is AHRI Certified, meets HSPF standards (for ductless: ≥9 or HSPF2 ≥8.1), and complies with all codes.
Rebate Amounts and Benefits
Receive a standard $1,500 rebate for qualifying ducted or ductless air-source heat pumps. Income-eligible customers can add $2,400 via Efficiency Boost, check guidelines online. Beyond rebates, enjoy federal tax credits, improved humidity control, and superior air filtration. Ducted systems reuse existing ducts, while ductless options suit homes without them, offering flexibility and energy savings.
How to Apply for Your Rebate
Applying is pretty easy: just submit your application within 30 days of your purchase, and make sure to include your invoice with the installation details, brand, models, and costs. You can fill out PSE’s online form or grab a downloadable version in English or Spanish. If you’re going for the Efficiency Boost, don’t forget to fill out the income qualification section. It’s a good idea to team up with a PSE Recommended Energy Professional for a smooth installation. If you need more help, reach out to an Energy Advisor at (253) 631-8826.
